Random crash to desktop

Hey All. I am wondering if anyone has any insight into what may be going on with my maple. I am suffering from random maplestory crashes to the desktop. Maplestory just closes itself with no errors, no hackshield warnings or errors at all. One minute I am playing the next second maple has just closed completey. No sign in page. Just direct crash to the desktop with no explanation. I have searched all through the windows logs such as in event viewer and there is absolutely nothing I can find that may be causing it. Its happened about 4 or 5 times in the last week. Once in APQ, once while at Zakum and twice during normal playing. There doesn't seem to be any common denominator. Operating system is windows Vista 64, 4gb Ram, 1GB Nvidea GeForce 8600T. Windows is fully up to date. Hard drives were scanned within last month for file system errors and bad sectors all part of my usual maintenance tasks I do every 6 months or so. Any ideas anyone?

That's really odd, has this occurred before the recent update?

Lols. Hey Oliver, how long has your computer been doing this? If its recent, then something might be conflicting with Maple. For me, I just lag and then disconnect to the Login Page, which is a pain.

Nope this hasnt happened before the last update at all. I off course have had dc's to the login page. Everyone gets those. This is completely different. Maple just closes/crashes to the desktop instantly. The only slight clue is that the time at zakum (am guessing because of lag, and the business of all thats going on at zakum) I actually saw what looked like a split second of application hang before it was gone direct to desktop again. Normally its instantaneous (or at least faster than my brain can detect - feel free to insert your own joke there LOL).

hmmm my desktop crashes just says that windows has encontured a problem and that you need to turn off the computer. does anyone know why that happens? i'm not a pro with computer's so i don't know what to search up.

No hardware failures or problems that I could find. Announcment you should start looking through the windows event viewer log files to look for recurring error or warning reports. Pay particular attention to anything happening around the time of these crashes. Information about event viewer in Windows XP can be found here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308427 If you are using windows vista then simply click the Start button . In the Search box, type Event Viewer, and then, in the list of results, double-click Event Viewer. Its quite hard to interpret without a reasonable amount of technical knowledge but if you keep seeing the same errors and warnings there logged for the approximate time of the crashes then that may give you an idea where to start your search. Sadly event viewer sheds absolutely zero insight into what has caused my crashes.

oh man! i've had this problem quite a few times. sometimes i just run maple again, sometimes i have to reboot. i do get system crash (eg. blue screen) at times than my laptop just restart on it's own. i'm using vista too and my laptop is less then 2yrs old. oh and when i zakum my screen will turn all black and hang! there's nothing i can do so i just plug out the power to off it and restart. some said nothing gotta do with vista as they can run it perfectly well, others complaint that it is because of vista. i dont know man!

These random desktop crashes do tend to be quite...unidentifiable. All I can suggest is to just re-download the full client and see if the problem persists. Or before doing that, possibly deleting HackShield and downloading it again. The link is here
