Since sexual attraction isn't needed for love

(alright, I made a thread like this before but it never got the comments I was looking for; I kind of screwed up on the thread title, and instead of commenting on the actual thread, most people felt the need to pick on my about my thread title. Such is Basil I guess.) So, since sexual attraction isn't needed in order to fall in love with someone, doesn't that mean that two straight men or two straight women can fall in love with each other without being gay? Or a gay man and a gay woman fall in love with each other but not be straight? If it's true that love builds over time, then why not? I mean, sexual orientation is only based on sexual attraction. If you're straight, you're attracted to the opposite sex, but that doesn't mean you can't fall in love with the same sex. If you're gay, you're sexually attracted to the same sex, but there's nothing saying you can't fall in love with the opposite sex. If love truly does build over time, why not? Just my thoughts. Opinions?

sexual attraction plays a part in it...if you find someone ugly then you wont approach them and try to fall in love with them. sexual attraction plays a part...trust me if you dont find your self attracted to your partner then something is wrong with your relation ship.

The only reason that doesn't happen is that it is ingrained in our minds and culture that it's natural and right to like the opposite and only the opposite sex. And I think girls are more attractive than guys....always.

I agree. I liked a girl recently mostly because of her personality. She was decent looking. Yes, Asian, too. But sometimes I liked her less because she wasn't physically attractive like other girls I've liked.

PeutEtre : I love men. I can't help it. That's being gay. What the TS is saying is that maybe some people like their way of being, not the body itself. I do believe in platonic love, but I'm not sure if you could be in a relationship with your platonic love because you wouldn't be sexually attracted; so you'd only be like close friends.
