As some people know, there are a few glitches happening in Zakum and Hornedtail. I went through a trial and error process to come up with two routines to get around the glitches that are causing so many to disconnect while fighting. Lately I've been asked how to get around them a lot, so I figured I would type it up for all of you to use and test for yourselves. Types of Errors There are two types of errors people are getting. C++ error and a hackshield error (I forgot the number, I believe it's 4656500.) The c++ error, out of the small survey I have taken, is caused by the fact that Maplestory isn't completely compatable with windows Vista. HackShield Error seems to be caused by the type of graphics card you are using. Out of all the people I have asked that recieve this error, they all have a Nvidia graphics card. My Zakum Routine This is what I used to do while I had a Nvidia graphics card, I have since updated and have not recieved the hackshield error. 1: Enter Zakum in windowed mode 2: Alt-tab at last arm. 3: As soon as Zakums first body dies, alt-enter. 4: At the end of second body, alt-enter once more. From there on out, you should be okay. HornedTail Routine. In Hornedtail, you can recieve both errors. I had both windows Vista 64 and 32 bit while doing these routines. I've also had many friends test them to make sure they worked, long before making this guide. Before anything, go to computer > C drive > Nexon > Maplestory. Right click Maplestory.exe, change compatability mode to Windows XP SP2. Do this if you are running Vista. It should help. There's a small download that seems to help aswell. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=32bc1bee-a3f9-4c13-9c99-220b62a191ee&displaylang=en 1: Enter HT on window mode, with full graphics. 2: Alt-enter the instant you see the text saying HT is approaching from the cave, and alt-enter once again either immediatly, or after 75% hp. 3: Repeat step 2 during the second head. 4: You should be in window mode when you enter the main room. 5: Hang on a rope, and tell your bishop you're going to be alt-entering, ask them to heal instantly. As soon as you see the text, alt-enter only one time and stay in full screen. 6: After legs and tail are downed, go to your system options, and set your graphics down to the lowest setting. If you don't have the viewing mode settings ticked, then it should instantly put you back in windowed mode. If not alt-enter on your own. 7: Alt-enter once again as soon as the right wing/arm are down. 8: Alt enter yet again when the head is down. <optional> I do these but I don't think everyone has to. 9: Alt-enter after both heads are down, finish up arm and hang on rope. I haven't had many issues with that routine, so I hope it helps others aswell. Also, if you die, you will probably dc no matter what. It's happened a few times. No way around it, sorry. =/ Other Notes As of this recent patch, there was is speculation that the c++ error may have been fixed. A frien

Wow, your routine for HT seems like a pain in the ass. I'm on 32-bit Vista and an ATI Radeon graphics card. I have to alt-tab for HT a few times, but you and Cos said tabbing was bad. I've had the problem where once you tab out, you can't tab back in. It doesn't happen a lot, just sometimes.

Yeah, I had a few people tell me that alt-tabbing makes it much worse. The single time I tried it I DCed the instant I went into main room.

This is the message it displays briefly "There is no need for compatibility mode other then to run hacks, do not enable it again"

Quite interesting. I've done something similar but still get C++ at the wings. Guess I'll have to keep trying.

Glad Im not on Vista. 8D I like your guide alot. You didn't have to spend this time to do this but you chose to help others w/ this problem. Appreciate it :D The HT one seems really really painful T>T

I don't understand your question Elaine. NightWind, thank you for this information, I was unaware of this. I'll fix that when I have the time. Thank you everyone else. Also, the HT thing really isn't as bad as it seems. It's fast enough on my comp that I don't lag whatsoever and get right back to attacking.

Like what steps did you take? Did you change your quality settings?

A few apparent "fixes" for Zakum: 1) Update your Service Pack of Vista to SP2. Actually, try to keep your computer 100% updated - meaning your video driver as well and from the Windows Update. You should be doing this anyways (which it seem a great number of people don't do here). 2) Set your graphical setting to max > All arms die > Lower the setting by one >1st body dies > lower it again > and repeat for the rest of the body. The second one seem to be the most repeated fix I seen here. Though, I don't see why it's so complicated. I never D/Ced on my Vista on either SP1 or SP2, nor do I have to do all the setting changing...Well, whatever. As for the nVidia stuff. I'm quite sure there have been quite a few people who go their GPU from them and still able to Zak. But to let you know nVidia 6000/7000 series IGP has problems with running MS.
