I have a severe case of getting REALLY nervous before playing volleyball, especially with people I don't know that well. I literally start shaking, and I get all stiff because i'm so worried of what they'll think of me. I'm thinking of trying out for the volleyball team next school year because i play alot with my friends and i love it and i've gotten quite good now, but im scared my nerves will get the best of me. And if miracoulously, I do manage to make the team, I dont even want to imagine how nervous i'd get when my teams chances of advancing in tournaments partly depends on my performance. T^T Any ideas on how I can get rid of this problem? o.o

If you're good, you don't get nervous.

Don't worry about it. If people judge you by 1 performance, then they are stupid.

ok, answer this question, unless they're testing on how good you are and not just playing for fun, WHO THE HELL CARES? the point of a game is TO HAVE FUN, don't worry, if you screw up a bit it's just a game, have fun, get good excercise, and ya...

The best thing to do is to just keep playing, and you'll get used to it. It may just be the adrenaline, or you're not comfortable with playing yet.

That's why I like sports where you can run off your nervousness or sports where you can hit people.

I quit playing soccer because all everyone cared about was winning. It became a tedious chore that I had to drag myself up at 6 on weekends for instead of a sport I enjoyed, which really affected my performance. Don't worry about what others think. Just play as you always play and have fun. When you're having fun, you're always going to be playing at your best.

Turn your nervousness to energy on the court.

That's why I like solo sports, or sports with 2-person teams so I'm with a close friend. Still, in other sports, I don't really get nervous. If I don't do well, I get angry and push myself to do better.

I think its the adrenaline and that i'm not comfortable with playing, but how do I get comfortable faster? T^T When i play with friends I play so much better then when i'm playing with people I dont know. My nerves make me play blady Dx |

The only reason you're nervous is because you're afraid of outcomes.

Play for the fun, and competition, not for the fear of losing.

I dunno, just deal with it. Happens to me too, but I just play harder and I'm fine.

Ask the school counselor or the coach. Or even a teacher. The bottom line is to just have fun.

I used to get nervous that I'll mess up or something in soccer, but I just started playing, and it doesn't really matter if you mess up. 0_o
