Maker: Dark Crystal?

Hey i just have several questions following my use of Dark Crystals in my maker skill. what do they actually do? it seems to me that they hinder, instead of help. using a stimulator, advanced diamond, and a intermediate dark crystal, i created a 3 luk 50 atk Red Craven. However, the thing is that the average is 6 luk. so it would seem to me that the dark crystal took away from the luk, instead of supposedly adding on 3 of any other stat (str, dex, int, luk). Also, i know its not the stimulator's doing, because according to the basil maker guide, stimulators act as a kind of "positive chaos scroll" in which no stat can be decreased. another instance was when i tried to make my dark pirate top. the average is 1 dex 5 luk. i added topwear stimulator, an intermediate luk crystal, and a intermediate dark crystal. it came out 1 dex 8 luk. in this instance, it doesnt seem like the dark crystal did anything at all. i must ask you, the basil community as to the problem. what is the actual use of the Dark crystal in the maker skill?

Dark Crystal adds random stats from what I know.

I'm not exactly sure but I've heard it's a bit like a chaos scrolls for the maker skill (anyone wanna correct me?)

Ahh your problem is that the stimulator may take away the effects of a crystal at the same chance as your fail rate. Other then taht, you were unlucky and it was under average.

Yeah, the stimulator messed it up, some people don't even bother with using a stimulator because the risk is greater than the reward.

I believe the stimulator just makes it have randomized stats as in abv avg, avg or below avg

The stimulator actually has a chance at making the item worse, making the item better, or failing it all together.

o.o that doesnt happen though. thats strange. i made 4 other cravens, all using stimulators, but with luk crystals, and adv diamonds heres how they turned out: 8 luk 49 atk 9 luk 49 atk 9 luk 51 atk 8 luk 53 atk as you can see, all of them are abv ave, or ave + the diamond atk. so i was confused as to the effect of a dark crystal this also shows to me that the stimulator during the maker skill, keeps up either average or above average.

I used two basic black crystals just to test them out (with no other gems or stimulators), and the first one did absolutely nothing while the other one added some weapon defense. I was making random level 50 shoes.

It says right in the maker books that stimulators will give you average or above never below average. Or it could explode.
