Hey basil I'm a level 81 Ranger going with a build similar to the Standard Ranger build from the Archer Skill Build Guide. I currently have 25 Strafe, 5 MB, 1 AR, 3 Puppet, and I'm training at Dangerous Sea Gorge 1 -- the first map with Squids. However, I'm wondering if or when I should move to the second Squid map, or possibly somewhere else completely. I can't go to typhons since I hardly have any AR, but I'm wondering what the best training spot would be with my current skills. Thanks.

Typhonsss godly exp

Yeah I know, but I can't go there with only 1 AR. Are there any places I could go to with Strafe that would give me good exp too?

spiritrivalYou'll want 6 Puppet for the 2nd map.

I would say stay where you are until you either a) get enough AR for typhons or b) want to go to newties. I never found the second squid map to be any better than squid 1 and squid 1 has more sniping spots (without having to use puppet).

I read about that in the guide, but could you tell me why I need 6 puppet? I went there once and noticed the map was mostly Risell Squids so I decided to stay at the first map. Thanks.

With 25 Strafe, im sure you can go to lower ascent and 2 hit ko windraiders. 400 exp per shot is pretty good, im sure you can rake in exp, around 33%+ an hour.

Yeah I trained at Windraiders from 60-80 and I got a little tired of them, so I went to Squids, hoping they might be better. I remember getting around 35-40% an hour right before I left, and at Squids I only get around 25%. Will Squids eventually pass Lower Ascent in terms of exp per hour, or should I just stay at Lower Ascent raising my AR for Typhons?

you can try sniping newts, if you can get there.

If you saw a lot of (black) Squids there, it was probably a result of a Fire/Poison Mage training there. Poison doesn't affect the (black) Squids.

LOL.. go to typhons at 90+ or 95+, else you'll be wastin pots, with 1 ar, you'll be doing 2k damage MAX... at level 104 my max is 5.5k with AR, my average is 3.5k and it takes me about 10-15 ar hits... if u wanna burn pots, go ahead... i still burn poots, 400 barbs/ hour, maybe 100 sorcerers..

I was going to Singapore at that level still getting decent experience at Mysterious Path 3 killing Slimey and Selkie. The spawn is good, and if you can get a party with 2 other people it's good. Also, there are some decent equipment and ore drops from there. I was at Gryphons a lot around that time too, but I hated them. Meanwhile, you should be adding points to AR and Puppet so you can eventually get to Typhons. That is the best training spot from 90-105. Just don't stay there too long. At level 105 you should move to Newties in a party.

The point of sniping is that you dont get hit by the newties, by staying out of range, the HP you have dosnt matter, but it is better to have enough to survive a hit. At lvl 81, an archer should have HP from 2.2~2.3k even without HP wash, which is safe enough to survive jr.newties magic hit. And yes, sniping jr.newtie is a decent training place, you will be expecting around 0.20~0.30% per egg.
helena22508 08/04/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
You can still occasionally get hit by a newtie, unless you stand where you can't see (or barely see) what you are shooting at. And if you get hit and knocked off the platform, and there's a Nest Golem waiting at the bottom for you, instant death. It's nice that there are mini-dungeons now. If we didn't have them, I doubt you would be advising a level 81 to come to Newties because all the maps would be filled with lower level players taking up a map to snipe one or two newties from the middle platform. It's a dumb idea. Just because it's theoretically possible, doesn't mean it's justifiable or the right thing to do.
