guys i really need help

i'm trying to reinstall ms and i have limited c drive space. i have about 4.7 free. when i start install shield it takes like half of that up and says i need to make rooom. i'm defragmenting right now, hoping it will work. it going to take for ever though because theres hella space. i did a window wash and got like 1.7 space back. i don't know what else to do, help me please.

Delete unnecessary files, try CCleaner or manually delete stuff.

I don't recall defragging giving the hard drive more space.

should i delete stuff from my c? i put most of my stuff in documents. everything in my cdrive mostly has acer in it and i dont want to mess that up. but i don't know if deleteing from ducoments will do anything

Download SpaceMonger or a similar program to see what's taking up so much space.

if let ur c drive compress itself, the lost space should replace over time

it's been compressed D: i fixed it kinda. i recovered like 18 gb of space. yahoo answers is cool

Maplestory only takes up 1.36 gigs, and the setup is like 1.2 gigs itself, so that still comes in less than 4.7.

Go to My Computer. Right click C drive. Select Properties. Click the Disk Cleanup button (to the right of the pie chart). Let it figure out what you can safely delete to get back space, proceed. Go to Control Panel. Double click Add/Remove Programs (or just Programs, depending on what version of Windows you're using). Uninstall programs you don't use and are sure you won't want later. As you said, clear out personal files (from My Documents, etc) that you don't need. Clear out browser cache folders (usually accessible from the file menu of whatever browser you're using). THEN defrag. (Defragmenting doesn't free up space, just allocates data on the drive to make more efficient use of the available/used space).

as Bob said, download ccleaner first then follow tektonix after that find out what is taking the most space, and isnt important, clear it
