Every time I turn in an intermediate monster crystal 1 he takes it and says something about me not making the crystal right. Then he asks me to make the same crystal again and again. Does anyone know how to finish this quest?

you have to kill monster that is lvl 71-80 my choice was Homunculus. I disassemble 3 item that was lvl 70 and got 3 intermediate 1 crystal. He took them all and said no good. Have to kill monster that around wher they r and make the crystal from that.
