From NyteAngel: Just a disclamier. This is written for a friend who can not make another poll. I am posting this in his place. My mom is being unreasonble. I am currently using a windows 2000 w/ a scratched up box moniter thats about the size of a microwave. My mom said that we could get a family laptop, w/ a good graphics card and such for gaming, and when we got it, I instantly wanted to play MS, so we tried to install it. GameGuard was the problem, so it wouldnt work. Now that there is hackshield, my mom tried it 5 months later and it works (happy face) but, she wont let me play it on the admin acc because she thinks nexon is some bootleg company that she doesnt want to have access to out computer. Hackshield only lets me play on admin, but she wont let me. Please vote below w/ your decision, and if anyone has a link to theyre papers or w/e, post it please, so i can convince her to let me play.This is all in the buisiness sense, not what they do for the content of the game

This was quite amusing. I would say 60% of program's on Vista have to be ran in Administrator mode. Not to access your computer but to allow registry editing and other thing's of that sort. For example Internet Explorer is built into Vista to run in Administrator mode. MapleStory uses registry to save your username so you only need to type your password in. If she really has a problem with you running it in Administrator mode just change the client to run in Administrator mode and only use a shortcut.

Hmm... I've played for 3 years. On multiple computers throughout my house and nothing happened. Show your mom this thread and tell her that a multi-million dollar company would not even dare to do such a thing. If they did, they would instantly lose income through players, would be sued, and the "hacker" or "ID Theft-er" would be imprisoned. I don't think a company this big would want to ruin their reputation for a smal amount compared to their richness. (It is why HefferHeffer would never dare scam someone.)

If she doesnt believe you, i think you can right click-> properties-> run as admin (for vista) or google 'how to run maplestory as administrator'
