getting my permit

i live in california and i recently finished my online drivers ed. i got the certificate and tomorrow im going to enroll in a 6 hours behind the wheel class and get the certificate of enrollment. my question is, if i bring my certificates to the DMV tomorrow, will they give me the permit test right there so i can do it and get my permit tomorrow? or do i have to wait for them to schedule an appointment and wait to take the test? thanks ~steven

you can take the test right away. there will probably be a line but it wont be that long for receiveing the test. its like 3x-4x questions and you can miss up to 8. which one are you going to?

ah, make you sure you have everything completed, application, and you need your cerificates. birth certificate, the one with information on it. and social security card.

dont make an appointment. appointmens will not usually happen the same day. its better to go and standby;.

If you bring your certificate tomorrow, you can take the test, and if you pass you get your permit also. If you make an appointment then you won't have to take a number and wait. However, most appointments are booked and the next available one is like a week or 2 away. Make sure if you wear glasses, bring them for the vision test. ^He's talking about the application you and your parent need to fill out that you should have received when you got your certificate. If you don't have one the DMV has boxes with those applications in them.

its a white application. study hard. not all the questions on there will be ones you learned. like some are about alleys and what forms you gotta turn in for this situation etc. overall it wasnt that bad, i missed 7 haha.

There's two options: you can wait on standby, or make an appointment. Making an appointment is kinda like a VIP thing - you wait a bit but the day you schedule is the day you'll do it. I wasn't in a rush so I made an appointment. However, if you're eager, wait standby; most likely, you'll be able to test. Remember to bring your certificates (the driving school one and the 6 hours of behind-the-wheel), and to bring glasses or contacts if you need them for the vision test. Also please remember to bring your Social Security Number or some form of identification. The information you give for your permit is the information they'll put on your future driver's license, including the picture, so look sharp! Good luck! I'm sure you'll do fine.
