More info on the asus G50 laptop?

my mom won't o.k. me to buy it untill she knows EVERY ASPECT of what im doing... I'd like to know some of these too though. 1. why was it taken off the best buy website? 2. what company is ASUS? 3. is this website and are the sellers of this PARTICULAR laptop trustable?: gotta know cuz there was more than one seller and the specs were different 4. what exactly does refurbished mean and can we trust a refurbished laptop from this site? 5. can you only use a credit card on this site, or can u use a debit too? 6.is it compatable to hp printers? 7. does it come in different colors...? my mom's rly worried about the "refurbished" part of it...if there's another site that sells it unfurbished, guess that would make her stop too. btw; if theres a better laptop you would recommend for me thats under $1000 dollars, it would be greatly appriciated!

They make many components, namely motherboards, which are used in many of todays dells, hps and gateways. Among enthusiasts, they are considered one of the best laptop makers in the world, and to some, they are number one. 3) Yes, that laptop and the specs are completely legit 4) It means the laptop was sold, sent back ( likely from some sort of defect ), fixed, and is now being resold. As for refurbs, they are the same everywhere. So if you wouldnt by one somewhere else, you shouldnt buy one here. 5) You can use both 6) Assuming you have the drivers, yes 7) No. The only place to get it new for less than $1000 wouldve likely been BB, and possibly newegg with the G50VT-X8TW model ( which is really nice for the price ). Currently, the only laptops that can match are the Asus G51 at BB, and the Gateway P7805u BB. Both are priced around $1000, and both are spectacular gaming machines, though note, as with all gaming laptops, they do get very warm.

im going to try to talk her into letting me buy the G50 on this site then...she has a problem with "used" computers cuz someone from work sold her a crap one though... do you have any recommendations for a laptop for moderate gaming and lots of websurfing, then?

The only laptops better than the G50 that are near $1000 are the G51, G71, and the P7805u ( and possibly a few MSI models on newegg ). Depending on how you define moderate gaming, you could get something with a weaker GPU and have the money from that component put elsewhere, since those laptops are all meant for higher end gaming. Something considered moderate ( midrange ) would be the Asus F50 on newegg.

me myself has gone through the same dillema as you, i was on a low budget, with parents always wanting to know if it was worth it or not. I think the best thing ur mum could do apart from put you in school is to get this laptop, me myself is getting G71 as i persuaded them ;). My friends have a G51 and it runs everything amazingly. And for a laptop for such a freaking low price, it looks flashier then any of that alienware over-priced stuff. Get it, it runs good, looks good, nice weight, amazing price, and if you like orange, ur freaking gonna <3 it. I like red though :D

Im with Shiro, however, there is no HP that can match the G50 for gaming, not even close. The closest thing would be the HP HDX which was a 20.1" laptop that has been retired for several months. Everything else is far from it.
