After all the times I've suggested that people not come to Basil with their problems, and try to find a better answer on Google, I'm actually coming to you guys for some help. For the last 3 days now I've been thinking about my own mortality. If you are saddened or depressed about facing your death, please don't continue reading. But if you'd like to help me deal with mine, please read on. Ok, so... A few days ago I thought about how Michael Jackson's dead and even though he was so extremely famous, he couldn't prevent dying. Well, if him and other celebrities are going to die, then there's no way I can prevent my own death. So the last 3 days I've been extremely depressed, I am having panic attacks and I've sad a lot. I'm 18 now and it seems like those 18 years have flown by, so what's to stop the next 18 years from flying by, or the rest of my life to slip away? I am also thinking about how most people die in their sleep. Musn't that be horrible? Not even knowing you're going to die? Just slipping off in the middle of the night? Can't say goodbye or anything. And you don't even have the knowledge that those are your last hours. You just go. And that thought has lead to me not sleeping at night, but in the day time around my family. So if something did happen to me, they'd at least be able to maybe help me right? And when I'm dead, that'll be it. I'll have no thoughts, no dreams, nothing. Just blank. I won't even be able to comprehend the nothingness, because I'll be dead. I'm not going any further than that, because the thoughts of what happens after that just depress me way too much. I know that this is a little crazy, thinking about death at 18, but it's something I just absolutely can't get off of my mind. Out of the billions of people that have died in the history of the world, only the recent ones that have died will really be missed. I mean, do you care if George Washington was still alive? What about Cleopatra? My life will just be so insignificant and it'll pass and the world will move on. It's just so saddening. I am NEVER a person to get sad or depressed, but I'm actually thinking about going to a therapist about this. It's an extreme fear. But I don't want to be put on anti-depressents, since they may cause suicide. I'd never kill myself, but I don't want the drugs to make me do it. So, if anyone would like to help me deal with this, or try to comfort me, please do. I really need it right now. Thank you so much if you read this.

It reminds me of how Ixseto had the same thoughts a year or two ago. He got over it.

Nothing is immortal dude. Just enjoy life while it's still in you, the more memories you make, the longer your life will seem. If you keep doing nothing and thinking about your own death, you're just succumbing to your fears. You're putting waaaay too much thought into it.

Examples, Heaven for christians, a bank for jews (lolololo kidding don't hurt me), 72 virgins for muslims, etc etc... |

I always think about what happens when I die; how it happens, when it happens, after it happens. Horrible thoughts.

im not sure if this would help but: why keep thinking about it than living your life right now? spend an hour thinking about death than having fun. i'd rather be bored than think.

Try not to think about it and don't listen to anything emotional. Try to do things happy and hang out with friends who understand what your going through. They'll help you.
