A little help to understand Cygnus Knights.

So say I have a mage or whatever and the knght becomes linked to the mage. What happenes to the mage? Is he transformed to that new knight? Or do I just recieved like an extra character that is the Cygnus Knight; but I keep my mage?

The second choice. and...this may be irrelevant now, as apparently, they removed the "parent" part of creation, now you just make a Knight
