hi basilmarket! I have small question to ask about those bench presses, ab excirsise machines and all those other wieght machines! my little bro( he is 12) wants to do some excirsise on a few of those! my mom tells him that doing wieghts at such an early age will 'stunt' your growth somehow.....i would just to know if thats true because i myself reguarly lift wieghts and i guess im a bit on the shortish side but i pretty close to most of my classmates!

I've heard that a lot, but never really found out the truth. Either way if I were you I wouldn't want your lil' bro working out at age 12, muscle will just come later and then you can start without sounding like a weirdo.

Depends on what he's doing. If he does squat yes it will stunt his growth with those weights on his back.

There are a couple of arguments for both sides. Some say if you use proper form and technique you can lift weights at a young age...I dunno though

he said his plan would be to go in the morning to lifetime fitnessfor around 45 minutes lifting wieghts. also he wants to know if 90 pounds of strength for the leg is good...

Tell him not to over train. Don't train if you're sore.

It's not true. It only happens if you lift wayyy too heavy for your size/age
