SavageThievzlets get some background information first. so far during this summer break, i have not been regularly exercising, if thats wut u wanna call it. i began the summer at about 160 pounds, and now i am 163-165(varies on the scales i look at), which means i have gained about 3-5 pounds of fat, unless i gained muscle(improbable). during the school year, i would play tennis every weekday for 1-2 hrs, or more if i really wanted to. that was enough to keep me slim (enough). with everyone in summer school(including me) and the temperatures high, i have not been able to play tennis, but i was still eating as much as i usually do(a lot) so ive been gaining quite a bit of fat. i decided that i would go running every night and do a couple push ups/crunches (this part felt kinda mediocre), but before i go and begin this nightly routine, i wanted to ask if this was the right way to go about this. i want to burn fat, especially on my stomach and back(lolwut) and i also want to gain muscle, but theres so much to think about i need advice so my question is, would running 2 miles every night be enough for me to keep slim, and how am i supposed to lose fat and gain muscle? ive read that to lose fat, u have to burn more calories than u take in, which is the opposite for building muscle. should i burn fat until my desired level and then begin binging on food and working out more? any suggestions? P.S. my back feels kinda fatty too, like when i move around i can feel my skin move kinda different from before. P.S.S. part of the reason y i weigh so much is cuz im 5'11" and i do have bit of muscle too. edit 3: i plan on doing 3 sets of 20 push ups(its hard for me now cuz im heavy) and 3 sets of 30 crunches. ive already been doing this for 2 nights

LiveGreenyou can't burn fat in a specific area. you can only lose body fat. though you could work out to make that area look leaner

Do lots of cardio. Protein shakes/protein rich food. Make sure you sweat a lot.

Lifting weights burns the most calories and builds the most muscles. Just do that and take in less calories.

All you have to be is more active, as you said, burning more calories than you take in is a good start. You won't lose weight over night but it's going to be a slow process.

you can't reduce fat specifically from your stomach and back. you have to lose fat all over, what places it comes off of is up to your body. and yeah, you can't lose fat and gain muscle at the same time, unless of course your diet is completely spotless and you put in some hard time at the gym. running 2 miles is...not really that much. aim to run for at least 40 minutes, how far you get is irrelevant when you want to lose fat, just keep your heartrate up and make sure you're really pushing yourself. i really suggest a gym membership for you. and if you don't have any equipment at home you'll probably have a hard time gaining muscle. pushups and crunches are better than nothing, but that's not saying much. really. gym membership.

XshinboXHIIT cardio for thirty to forty minutes. Eat nutrient dense foods as small meals six times a day. Get a set of dumbbells, a pull up bar, and an Olympic bench with plates and a bar. Lift heavy enough that you get tired after one set with proper form, rest for two or three minutes, and do 2 or 3 more sets.

SavageThievzdoes rice count as grains o.o cuz i eat lots of that :D and ok ill just try running for long periods of time, hard to suppress my urge to run faster tho. it was easy on a treadmill tho >.> a gym membership would be nice, but i dont have a ride and my parents will probably say that i dont need to go to the gym. so while im in this "fat burning phase" would doing push ups or crunches be of any use to me? or should i just concentrate on running
