2h sword vs 1h sword

im gonna make a warrior soon, probably a paladin or hero. so i'm still debating whether to use a 1h sword or a 2h sword. i'm not that well funded, about 1-3m tops, so i probably won't be getting an attack shield for the 1h sword. i might buy str scrolls for my shields later on though, or use shields w/ base stats that give str, like the mithril tower shield (+2 str). so which is better, 2h sword or 1h sword + shield (not attack)? would the faster attack speed in a 1h make up for the loss of about 2-4 att in 2h?

There's no better weapon class in terms of damage, though some 1Hs > 2H counterparts and vice versa. You're gonna find this chart helpful. Right off the bat I can tell you that a 10 atk shield > 20 str shield.

I personally prefer a 2h sword instead of a 1h sword purely for the fact that i dont need an att shield and that i like high damage (no im not one of those damage freaks.). but hey thats just my opinion.

How much money do you have? If you can afford a 15 atk+ shield, and a 1handed sword that has about the same attack as a 2handed sword, then 1handed is better. If you can't afford an attack shield, then 2handed swords are better.

You realize you can switch along the way don't you? I currently use my RK/atk shield combo and have used it for 13 levels so far, but before level 70 I used 2h swords for 40 levels (30-69). Mastery doesn't force you to pick a 1h/2h weapon so use the best one you have at the moment. Generally for an unfunded warrior that means using the lionheart from 35-49, the jap map from 50-63/whenever depending on if you can find a better rohen/doombringer/RK/any other better wep.

EDIT: Would it be better to buy a glowing whip : level 40 with 81 att (1h) 35m or just use a Lionheart 71 attack (2h) 10m I don't really plan on getting over level 60...

1h is better in damage over time because it hits faster, therefore that guarantees that overtime it will hit more than a 2h sword would. However, that'll only take effect with a boss, otherwise that difference will never show up. With a 1h sword + shield combo where the attack is at least 1.15 of the 2h sword, the actual numbers will be higher.

Pally=2hd Hero=1hd with att shield Alot of pally's complain about range, but if that is not a problem for you go 1hd with att shield. :D
