Is it wrong to use violence in order to stop violence?

Discuss. It could be the same for yelling. Is it okay to yell at someone to get them to stop? You can think of your own scenarios, the few that I thought of sucked.

But then the super hero's promote violence and show that even the best of the best are hypocritical. Aren't those bad morals?
