Problem with my best friend

Okay I know most people are like "lol coming to basil with your problems lol" but I have nowhere else to ask this. Believe me, if I had any other friends that gave a crap, I'd confide in them. About a month or so ago, my best friend (we'll call her melanie) had just broken up with her boyfriend of 11 months (we'll call him john). They had been having problems for a while and they both decided to break up. A few days later, she practically gets together with another guy (we'll call him dan) that she had been in love with the whole time she was with John. Now I know what you're thinking, "Wow, what a ^#%" but look past that for now. Anyway, ever since she got together with Dan, she's been kind of distant from me. She spends all her spare time with him and only talks to me when he's not around. I had to put up with this when she was with John too and it wore off after a while, maybe 3 months or so, but it still hurts. He's all over her myspace, twitter, msn, etc and I'm getting really sick of it. Really, really sick of it. I feel like confronting her about it but I don't know how. She's changed so much and I start crying when I think about it. When I try talking to her on MSN, she'll talk to me until he logs on and then she's totally silent and I know she's talking to him. I try to talk to her during that time but her answers are either "LOL" or silence. Mostly silence. Again, it hurts. I feel like I'm just something to entertain her when Dan isn't around and she's supposed to be my best friend but she's not acting like it. So, what should I do? Confront her about it or just wait it out? If I confront her, how should I do it? Waiting is kind of scary for me because I feel like we'll get even more distant. Thanks. (Again, sorry for posting this on basil...)

You should just talk to her, when i have problems I just tell my friend about it and everything gets fixed :] The same thing happened to me a while back, and now me and my best friends are better friends than we've ever been.

Probably best to talk to her. If you let it stay the way it is, nothing's going to change. There is the chance that she isn't aware of how you're feeling right now. Letting her know might improve things.

Don't talk to her. Later on when she's not with "Dan", she'll notice what she had done and come back to you apologizing.

How do I talk to her about it? I'm afraid she might get mad and we'll fight. It's a really touchy subject and she always apologizes for ignoring me (once dan logs off msn/he isn't around/whatever) but I don't think she was ever sincere.

i disagree with people who tell you not to talk to her. Shes your best friend for a reason if shes still not showing you the love you deserve, then she doesnt deserve to be your best friend!
