Thank you Sakana for taking on the task from here on :] I typed this thread, but as I am no longer present, Sakana will lead on and, hopefully, pull through with another successful Basil Con Vancouver � Summer. Opening Statements In light and success of the first Basil Convention held in Vancouver, and with the feedback being positive from the actual people who attended, along with people who saw the outcome, I've been asked (pretty much right after the first one) to hold one during the summer. Well, since I'm not going insane yet from organization and responses, I guess I'll start planning now... That's right... THIS IS NOT OFFICIAL YET. THIS IS PLANNING! THIS THREAD WILL BE EDITED MANY TIMES! The Date I would like responses/estimated date where people are free. I'm aiming for end of July . The Time Regardless of where we're going, I'm going to estimate the meet up time to be at 1pm. Put down comments/concerns/etc. The Place • English Bay Beach • Richmond Minoru Park • PNE/Playland You may ask, why can't we go to a mall? Why are they all large field areas? As we found out last time, malls are actually private property. Any group of a large size can be considered intimidating and it's easy for us to be considered "loitering" when I'm trying to gather everyone up. Simply said, if you're not interested, by all means, don't come. If you are interested in PNE/Playland, PLEASE read my concerns first : Like last time, I arranged this, and it is my responsibility to know where everyone is and that everyone is safe. For those who went to the first one, you probably would've seen how stressed I was and counting people every so often and asking where people are, gathering people up, dealing with security, etc. PNE/Playland is a large place, so we probably won't run in to too many problems with security, since they're used to large groups (hopefully). My concern is keeping everyone together. (If you're being an idiot and fail to listen to instructions, by all means, get lost, for if you do so, I relinquish my responsibility for you.) There are many rides I'm sure many people want to go to, and certainly rides people want to go on again...and again...I know for one that I love this one ride. At the same time, there are rides that people may not want to go on. Since I don't go on many rides, pretty much only a select few, I can definitely watch over the people who don't go on a certain ride. Overall; however, my greatest concern is losing a few people. I'm glad I made connections to some people from the first convention, got their numbers and got to know who they are, and I can say with confidence that all the people that lasted till at least the end of Metro, I can put my worries aside for. While splitting up in to smaller groups would be logical for Playland/PNE, that's not exactly the point now is it? The convention is |
