Feel free to disagree with anything in the guide as long as you provide what it should be changed into and I'll consider editing it in. Don't worry, if you put up a good argument chances are very high I will. Please keep this bumped up until the guide is stickied (yet again). update history 19-07-2009: Updated a ton of things. Assaulter, MG, ME and PP have all had changes to their description/comments. Removed two builds because one was basically a copy of another build and the other because I deemed it a bad build now. Added one more build that doesn't focus on training at Elder Wraiths as soon as possible, but instead goes for the more traditional training methods in 7x. Intro Hello and thank you for reading the Basilmarket Bandit Section Chief Bandit guide. This guide is about the Chief Bandit, and as such, will focus on skills, skill builds and training locations. I will not go into ap builds or equips here. If you have questions about those, I redirect you to the FAQ and common misconceptions about bandits-thread that can also be found on this forum. This guide isnt completely done yet. I still need to give links to maps in the training location section, there are still some obsolete training spots to add and theres still a section about ME mechanics and calculations to do. But the necessary information is there. Feel free to check for any errors, give me some ideas on what I should add to this, think up some SP build that you think is the best. -Mejust Table of Contents: Introduction Skill Comparisons Skill Builds Band of Thieves Build Meso Explosion Build Training Guide Mesos Explosion Mechanics and Damage Calculation Chief Bandit Skills That Have Been Changed The Chief Bandit What the Chief Bandit is: Chief Bandits are versatile. They have a move for every purpose. A jack of all trades. Which is a bit of a heaven and a bit of a hell. We can do anything, but arent very good at all of them. Well, for as far as attacking skills go. Cbs get quite a bit more survivability over the Bandit thanks to Mesos Guard. But that doesnt necessarily mean we are good tankers. Mesos Guard is a good, no doubt. But our base HP is still low for a melee class. So we dont really excel at tanking, either. We also get a nice movement skill in the form of Assaulter, and if anything, thats where we excel. Cbs can move around fast. What the Chief Bandit is not: Cb's ARE NOT COMBO-ERS. THE ARSENAL IS BUILT FOR VERSATILITY, NOT MINDLESS SPAMMING. ASK ANY CB WORTH HIS MARBLES, I GUARANTEE YOU NONE OF THEM GO AROUND CHAINING RANDOM MOVES TOGETHER. IT DOESNT WORK. Every Cb move has a purpose and a correct time to be used, and just because they have a quick execution time DOES NOT mean we're combo-ers. Ill use the same example I use every time somebody waltz's in here calling us combo-ers. Training at Typho

Did you even check my guide before saying that I didn't change it? o_O I updated about one month and a half ago

But it's accurate enough, I guess. And I'm not one to talk with how my SP building section currently is. I'll edit that bit out right now.

Why are the BoT levels given out under "Chief Bandit Skills That Have Been Changed"? The change was in the hit range... Those %s have been the same for at least since last december, when i became a CB and wondered why anyone would want a skill that hit 110% and only hit 2 monsters.

Basil listed BoT's MP cost as double the actual number. Which is why I placed it there. They've corrected that now, though. Time to remove it.

Oh i see. Also, I see your point about assaulter not neccessarily needing to be maxed, and i've never heard anyone think of that before. But when it all comes down to it, i DO use assaulter regularly. I don't think i ever added chakra to my keyboard, and i find that eventually MEing the PP drops is slower than other damage you could be dealing. (Not neccesarily true for your average 8x CB at typhons). However the fact that i DO use assaulter regularly and the huge change in damage from level 1 to level 30, i believe warrants it as a skill that should be maxed. Its not neccesarily a very good skill, however the alternatives I feel are worse. On the other hand, I could be completely wrong and it could be just me that uses assaulter and no other CBs/shads ever touched that skill. Thats just from my experience.

Assaulter is an amazing skill that both CB's and Shadowers will find extremely useful when maxed. Not only does it deal rather decent damage, but it can be used at a distance to not only get to monsters more quickly, but to also finish off any leftovers that may have wandered off. At it's max level, it is almost certain to defeat most weakened monsters in one hit. Saves a lot of time and makes training a lot faster from what I've experienced.

So i'm not alone

I use it mostly to get across a map and attack while doing so without experiencing any KBs. Although, I do use Assaulter a lot for fun while grinding. Unless I'm on 4x and I'm wasting my own family rep to train. Otherwise, even on a 2x card I'll still goof off and assaulter every so often. Especially at himes. Standing there in a mob while a priest brings them to you. Sometimes I would even follow the priest using it going to the left to mob at himes, assaulter back to the right of he map and finish off a nice mob of 7 or 8 before the priest comes back with the mob. Always fun.

YaItsKynic said: "So i'm not alone " Far from it :p I use Assaulter at least as much as SB when I train solo. EDIT: Mejust, this must be the old version of your guide, you still say Assaulter's stun is only 1 sec. Also, I agree that it isn't a must max skill in the early levels of CBhood, but being a shad without Assaulter would be, I think, a very very bad idea. Maybe you should edit your sentence a bit. One more thing, the first hit of BoT is pretty far now, much farther than SB. Is that what you mean by "a bit longer than a normal attack"? I'd say it's at least two-three times the range of a normal attack... but that may be just me :p Edit that or not, as you like :p Another point :p You gave a very good description of all skills, but for some reason you leave the confusing - and wrong - skill description of Meso Guard. I suggest you make your own description, then say "despite what it says in the skill description in the game, blahblahblah" Finally, I'm not sure what good the third build you recommend would give compared to the first two. Can you explain its advantages a bit further? 90% of the people won't be able to train at Typhons before 8X because of accuracy, and all other training places will be much harder without MG...

I'll fix the part about the stun period. 2. I'll fix the description for MG. 3. I'll edit some part about my comments on Assaulter because some people have made a viable point. 4. The range improvement on Bot isn't all that special or give. I believe it was 100 range or something, but don't take my word on that. In effect it's not much more than double our small range, so it's not really that big of a boost. You'll have an easier time not getting hit while you cast it, but that's all that increase amounts to. Plus, even if there were to be a dramatic range increase, I still wouldn't change my guide to tell people about it. They'll notice by themselves how big Bot's range is and act accordingly. 5. The third build is basically a bad build to follow since you don't exactly want to miss MG while training at EW. But you max out Bot asap, so it's a good build to maximize training potential at WR.

Is there any secret to training at WR without getting 700 damage to me each one I kill?

sososo123 said: "Is there any secret to training at WR without getting 700 damage to me each one I kill?" WR's magic attack has terrible range and activates slowly. You should be able to Assaulter to the other side and evade the magic attack, or keep them at bay with BoT. If you're talking about the touch damage though, then you're just uncoordinated. :P
