Ok, I'm currently trying to convert to a str dit b/c of the dragon khajar. So my question is, will adding 55 str to my base str to wear the dragon khanjar improve or decrease my damage. My base str is 5 plus my zhelm is 20.I'm not planning to scroll the d. khanjar b/c its too expensive.

If you're not going to scroll it, it probably wouldn't help your damage, especially if you already have an attack shield. If you decide to convert, make sure you have a Deputy Star or MoN. That way you'll only have to add 35 AP to str to get the 75 str you need for the Dragon Khanjar.
