im level 28 so... what are the chances of me actually being able to do well in that quest to get agent N's(?) receiver (the hat) would i have to end up getting like 6 points per attempt?

No, you should end up getting only about 3 per attempt.

That equip is the easiest to get IMO...

Well i passed the 2nd stage with my char. But it took some time cuz i didnt have all cure potions oO. I shud plan ahead =.=.

get a higher lvl party 28+30=58 get lvl 50 ppl. you should do decent i guess
