I was about to sleep and i thought about this before i go and decided to share my thoughts with the people on basil who think straight I have made a couple of threads with not so perfect english because i have not learned full english as it isn't my first language, i always say that im sorry for my english at the bottom of my threads and people on basil still come to comment on my grammar and mis spellings, or about wrong section...Don't basil members have anything better to do than troll around my threads and comment on something i could care less about? i try my best to spell and put propper grammar marks but i still get posts from people that are unrelated to the thread. Can't you basilers do something more productive, like giving p/cs, and contributing to various threads in other sections? Coming to my thread and telling me something i probably already know is not productive to our community. And sorry for my english, as always, even though i know someone will not take my thread seriously and joke about it but i don't care.

Most of Basil is immature. I agree with you. Example : malapo said: "i don see anythign wrong with ur english"

People who care about grammar/sections of threads aren't immature (or at least not for those reasons). What you are saying has nothing to do with maturity.

Chat Island = place for immaturity. Stay out of it if you really don't like the immaturity we offer.

Mature people do not come to threads and comment on grammar. Mature people don't care. I don't care. No one i know cares. If its readable, that is all that matters in the post. So what if i missed a comma in my post, want to start a flame war over it?

I understand your frustration, but it's bound to happen anyway, especially on a nameless, faceless forum site like Basil were the worst reprecussion is being banned--people can be as rude as they want if they don't care about being banned because there are no lasting consequences. It just how some people choose to act. And your English is very good, better than some who speak it as a primary language, from what you typed

Basil won't be Basil without immaturity. It's what makes us unique, no?

There's a difference between "caring" and correcting others just to be an ass, like many Basilers do, in an attempt to flame-bait while still flying under the radar and avoiding bans. Correcting others for no reason other than to antagonize them is indeed a sign up immaturity.

Even though English isn't your first language you speak better then most people do on the internet.
malapo Jul 07 2009 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT

LowWillpower said: " Mature people do what they wish. I really don't see how maturity and your grammar are relevant to each other." No they dont. mature people do what is right, and what is right is only correction when it is not readable. Fixing "I lik to swim" into "I like to swim" and then calling someone an idiot (which always follows) is immature. People miss the key sometimes, big deal.
