Reporting actual posts?

So sometimes I want to report a certain post in a thread rather than the thread in general, and sometimes multiple posts in one thread. I've been doing this the whole time I've been on basil and I never looked to notice - but when I looked at what exactly I was reporting (the link in the 'report' box), it only had a link to the thread in general. Now that's kind of disappointing and also a little embarrassing considering I just reported 3 posts which were spam all in the same thread, and the mod will probably be thinking "why did this kid report 'spam' of the same thread 3 times?" So does it actually report the post, or the thread in general? should I start specifying now?

I think it reports the post # not the thread # Edit: It reports both, thread number then followed by post number.

For a post, report using the "!" next to the poster. For a thread, report using the "!" next to the TS.

If you use the report button (The "!" exclamation point next to the "online" sign), then it reports that certain post directly. If you use the contact form in the link at the bottom of every page, it reports the whole thread, and i think to mrbasil?

/forum/[thread number]/[page number]/[insert post number here]#[insert post number here] You can quote the person to find out what their post number is, the page number should be a given, and the thread number will be in the URL already. Gives a direct link to the post.

Well, when I hit the little "!" next to your post, it gives me this link: link which isn't a link to your post, but the whole thread.

Woah you're right, but that can't be how it works, because I've had lots of Basilbots say thanks for reporting and they show the exact post I reported. :o I agree with Phenylketon. Don't worry, I'm pretty sure you're good. x]

When you report, we're sent a quote of the post you reported, your comment, whatever's in the link bar, and a menu of what to do (Delete, suspend, forward to B). So, don't worry about it. Even if there's no link (as is often the case) we can take it out. Depending on what browser you use, it may or may not give a link to the thread at all. I believe Firefox and Chrome do, Opera maybe, IE doesn't, aya. If you don't see a link to the thread in the bar, include a link to the thread yourself.
