I have to call my Dad

Yesterday my sister was on the phone with my Dad, and he wanted to talk to me, but I didn't really want to, so I acted like I was really into my PSP game and told her I was busy. Then I told her to tell my Dad I'd call him tomorrow. The problem here is, I haven't spoken to my Dad since I was around 12 or so. I'm gonna be 17 in a month. Every time he calls I just try avoid to it, out of the sheer awkwardness the conversation would bring. But I kinda got myself trapped by promising him I'd call, so I don't wanna disappoint him. Any tips on how to keep the phone call from becoming weird? Like I really have no clue what to ask him about. For some reason, asking him personal questions wouldn't feel right, since we're not that close, but talking like he's just another guy wouldn't feel right either. x_x I don't know what to do.

Complain to him non-stop, and don't let him even talk. After a good 10 minutes of you talking, pretend you gotta watch Gossip Girls.

It'll be awkward, you can't avoid it. But just try to be nice, atleast he's trying to communicate with you.
