Processor advice

Which of the following processors would be faster and which one would be reccomended overall? A 900MHz Celeron 353 or a 1.6GHz Atom N270? Ty :D Edit: The only gaming I do on the computer is MS.. Which one would be able to handle MS the best and would be able to handle having many internet tabs open.

iGlen said: " Any particular reason why? O_o" The celeron 900 seems to beat the Atom in Super PI, but in other benchmarks the Atom seems to be faster. Btw, why are you getting a laptop with that kind of processor because they are pretty outdated.

I'm also pretty ignorant about computers so maybe you'd like to recommend a laptop from around the 300-500$ price range that would be more practical.

The Atom has a faster clock speed than the Celeron. Because of that, I'd go for it. For some good deals, check out Newegg.com, or (for this purpose only): link Either way, read up on reviews for the laptops you think you might like and see what their pros and cons are.

Obviously the Atom. Though you could probably get a Core 2 duo processor in a laptop in that price range nowadays.

I believe atom processors are not used in laptops and only in small factor desktops and netbooks, anyways to answer your question, the atom is much better because of the clock speed and it has more cache.
