It didn't make a sound, because there is no one there to perceive the sound. I.E. How do we know that the tree fell in the first place?

If you're really going to pick apart what I said, even though the two are interchangable, let me fix it. Just because no one is around it doesn't mean it doesn't make a sound. If you take a tree of equal or greater value and in the same vicinity, cut it down, and stay there it'll make a sound. So why wouldn't the other one?

Definition of sound: the sensation produced by stimulation of the organs of hearing by vibrations transmitted through the air or other medium. Since no one is there to hear it with their ear drum it does not make a sound.

Eventually, unless the vibrations are absorbed into other objects around the tree, a piece of the vibration will hit a human ear, thus creating sound. The only problem is that it would be too weak to be audible. It would, however, still make a sound.

Sound travels fairly fast. By the time it reaches the human ear, the Frequency would fall below 20 Hz. So yes it would make a sound. Human ear Frequency range 20-20000Hz
