Welcome! Have you ever wondered about what monsters are best for training? Which monsters drop the best stuff? Whether you should beat up a ton of Mushmoms or take on Drumming Bunnys? And maybe, you're just too lazy to look it all up and do the math. Well, look no further, for in this guide, I will be teaching you which monsters are the best to train on for whatever reason you may have! In this guide, I do the math for you, and we'll be on our to discovering that one question on everyone's mind: What is the best monster to train on? Updates Version 1.6 6/29/09- Guide Created. HP:Exp ratio for monsters level 1-49 added. 6/30/09- Formula for HP:Exp ratio added. Check the HP:Exp Ratio section. 7/1/09- HP:Exp ratio for monsters level 50-69 added. Sorry, I made this part late at night, and I really want to get some sleep... 7/5/09-HP:Exp ratio for monsters 70-200 added. Coming Soon updated. Hall of Unfame added. Comparison Station updated. Special Thanks updated. 7/6/09-HP:Exp ratio for most bosses added. 7/7/09-HP:Exp ratio for Zakum and "sub-area bosses" added. 7/8/09-HALL OF FAME UPDATED. THE SNAIL IS NOT the best HP:Exp ratio monster in Maple! Honorable Mentions section added. SUPER FANTASTIC MAGICAL AWESOME Special Thanks section added. Comparison Station updated. All monsters added for the HP:Exp Ratio section! HP:Exp Ratio Okay, so I bet a ton of us have wondered this: What monsters have the best HP:Exp ratio? Well, since this is the most asked question, this will be the first part of this guide. PLEASE DON'T EXPECT THIS TO BE THE REASON WHY THIS GUIDE WAS CREATED. We'll be covering a lot more stuff than just this, so I don't want any flames on how this guide is "Only about the HP:Exp ratio of monsters". So, without further ado, we shall begin! Monsters will be ordered by level. (And to those who are mathematically challenged, the lower the number, the BETTER ) FYI, I excluded most of the lesser known monsters. If you really want me to add them, just post and say so. All numbers have been rounded to the nearest thousandth. If a number repeats, it will be longer than that. For example, Snails are 2.66666 because the 6 is repeating. It never ends. And for those who want to know what formula I used, here it is... (Monster's HP)/(Experience the monster gives) For example, Snails have 8 HP and 3 Exp. (Monster's HP)/(Experience the monster gives)= (8)/(3)= 2.66666666666666... Level 1-9 Snail- 2.66666 Blue Snail-3.75 Red Snail-5 Stump-5 Slime-5 Pig-5 Orange Mushroom-5.33333 Level 10-19 Dark Stump-13.88888 Ribbon Pig-6 Octopus-8.33333 Bubbling-9.231 Green Mushroom-9.615 Axe Stump-10 Ghost Stump-10 Level 20-29 Blue Mushroom-10.938 Desert Rabbit (F)-10.938 Desert Rabbit (M)-11.765 Stirge-9.0909090909 Jr. Necki-8.6363636363 Dark Axe Stump-14.474 Horned Mushroom-8.571 Jr. Cactus-12.162 Jr. Sentinel-15 Trixter-10.714 Wooden Mask-11.905 Rocky Mask-13.33333 Sand Rat-10.9090909090 Wild Boar-13.095 Zombie Mushroom-11.905 Evil Eye-14.4 Boomer-12.7272727272 Green

Ok. This guide did not help me at all. It's pretty obvious

basmo 06/29/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT

BobRVery interesting... pretty much matches my empirical observations. I too hope you continue your analysis... I find it very helpful..! (Oh.. and I DID read all of it.. )

I think this would be useful for my future characters

This would be more useful if you had gone beyond level 50. And there's really no point in documenting monsters that aren't ever trained on, like Fierrys.
javacola 06/29/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
it would be helpful if you listed the monsters' levels, and put them in order of ratio ie. best monster to train on per level range.

javacola said: "it would be helpful if you listed the monsters' levels, and put them in order of ratio ie. best monster to train on per level range." This is a good idea. I'll put that into consideration...

Great idea for a guide, needs to be expanded though. Add some updates and it'll be amazing!

I like how you took the time to do this. Props to you.
ghunbong 06/29/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
just a suggestion, you could put in order the ratios in each section from lowest to highest
BobR 06/30/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
BobRAnother suggestion, just to relieve the "you shudda put in xxx monster!" complaints- post the formula you're using and let them do it themselves. One question as well. I assume you're using the HP and EXP for the monsters posted on sites like HiddenStreet or Sleepywood..? So- where do THEY get those figures from..? I guess they're listed in the current "monster book", but that's only been available for a relatively short time and those figures have been posted for a lot longer than the "book" has been in the game. Is someone reading them directly from the client code..?
