| A GUIDE TO MAGICIAN'S MAGICAL ACCURACY Hello Basil, Welcome to my guide to Mage's magical accuracy. After seeing tons of misconceptions about the magical accuracy spreading around basil lately, I decided to write this guide. UPDATES 7/1/2009, 16:25 CDT - Minor fixes WHAT'S ACCURACY? AND WHY DO I NEED IT? Accuracy is an important stat of the character that determines whether you can hit a particular monster or not. Although a mage can readily see his/her accuracy, by pressing S, it actually represents physical accuracy that other weapon attack classes use. A mage however uses magical accuracy that is based on his/ her INT and LUK stats. IS THERE REALLY A MAGICAL ACCURACY FORMULA OUT THERE? Yes, indeed there's a formula for calculating magical accuracy. Thanks to Thikket and Nekonecat of Sleepywood who worked hard towards finding magical accuracy of a mage. They ended up with a formula that calculates a mages accuracy tentatively. Till this point this is the most accurate formula for calculating a Mage's accuracy. Magical Accuracy = (trunc(int)+trunc(luk))/10. Now how the hit rate on the monster is calculated as follows. Thanks to Thikket and Nekonecat again. Let x = (trunc(INT/10) + trunc(LUK/10))/(Avoid+1)*(1+0.0415*D), where D is the level difference between the player and the monster. Then hitrate% = -2.5795x^2 + 5.2343x - 1.6749. Myths and Facts about Magical Accuracy All these myths are collected from various threads that circle around Basil. Myth #1 Mages dont need accuracy. Fact Mages do need accuracy, but in the magical form. Myth #2 If mages need accuracy why the state of darkness doesn't affect them? Fact Like said before, mages need accuracy in the magical form. The state of darkness only affects the physical accuracy and not the magical accuracy. Myth # 3 Luk doesnt have any role in magical accuracy. Fact Int and Luk, both are responsible in deciding mage's magical accuracy. The level difference and the monsters avoid ability decides when you can hit it. Myth #4 1 int = 1m.acc Fact Again, Int and Luk, both are responsible in deciding mage's magical accuracy. INT or LUK is not the sole factor. Also there is not an exact amount how int and luk adds up to accuracy. Thanks to Gandalf for pointing this out. Myth #5 The more your level difference is, luk affects the most in magical accuracy. Fact INT and LUK both affect magical accuracy in the exact same way at any level. Myth #6 Lukless have less accuracy than a normal luk mage. Fact This seemingly true misconception is sometimes right and sometimes wrong and can be attributed towards a players funding. Cases where it's right A luckless mage who is completely unfunded at level 71 has 368 int and 4 luk. So his magical accuracy turns out to be 36. A regular luk mage who is completely unfunded at level 71 has 310 int and 70 luk. So her magical accuracy turns out to be 38. Cases where its wrong A funded regular luk mage who has around 337 int and 77 luk So her magical accuracy turns out to |

| Well, my first suggestion would be bolding correctly LOL, but except for that it's a nice Q&A. Just this: [.header]Myth #4[./header] 1 int = 1m.acc Again, Int and Luk, both are responsible in deciding mage's magical accuracy. |

You should mention that it's false and that there isn't an exact amount since it changes depending on your level and the monster's level and Evade." Well obviously this is the first guide I've ever wrote, so I might have gone wrong here and there, Thanks for pointing it out. |

Np and glad to help . When I first posted my guide it had a ton of bold errors :s, I went through it like 4 times checking every single [b] and it still ended up with like 5 errors, people ended up pointing them out. |

Yea, that F/P guide is really neat. If at all this guide makes it to the sticky, it will help people to stop making numerous threads on this subject. |

| Here's a little doubt I have. We all know Maplestory uses truncation (for the one's who don't know, 2.1~> 2, 2.9 ~> 2 when truncated). But do the decimals from int and luck sum up together? For example, in this section: Cases where it's right A luckless mage who is completely unfunded at level 71 has 368 int and 4 luk. So his magical accuracy turns out to be 36. |

| One thing I find wrong with the formulae is the hit%, because it would be a parabola; thus having 2 of the same points. |
