Okay, so me and eskflownexx were debating today on whether drop rate is affected by How long you are killing/how many you have killed versus hitting at the right time He suggested that by hitting at a particular time you can get a drop I suggested that its based on how long you've been killing as well as how many not going to go into detail but what do you people think Oh and don't flame if you think this is stupid Sorry if its in wrong section

Hitting at a certain time. It sounds weird but it is. I Used to train at bubblings for over 5 hours and get nothing. Then a mage comes in and immediatly gets a maple shield.

I think it's completely random.

i would go with how long you train. haha coz sooner or later its going to have to drop haha.

I have taken over two years of my time trying to figure out the drop rate. What i have figured out so far is that when you change channel, the drop rate is reset. What i used to do with my firemage was i would poison 5 channels of squids at a time and come back and kill. when i came back i would get usually a drop every 7 or so channels. With my DK i kill in one channel until i get a drop, then i cc and i get another drop USUALLY in ten to fifteen minutes depending on the monster etc etc. its kind of confusing but thats what i have so far.

It is completely random, exactly the same as scrolling. Also, how the hell did you come up with the idea of killing a monster at a specific time? If that were to be true, the drop rates could be abused really easily.

The only time that the "Time" theory popped into my head was when someone stole my tobi at grupins three years ago. other than that i havnt really thought of that to be a real drop rate issue. |

I don't think it's either, but your friend's is a closer approximation. When you kill a monster it kicks the information to a drop table, and it randomly selects items based on each item's set droprate (kinda like when you scroll when it kicks to 40/60 odds or whatever). Then whatever items have randomly been selected drop, though most of the time it's just mesos and etc. items.

You know how Arch Mages spam their AoE attacks and kills monsters in 1 hit? All those monsters die at the same time, and they will spawn at the same time too. That means if 1 monster gives a rare drop, so will all the other 15 affected by the AoE skill. Whoever designed this game is not that stupid. |

I picked none of the above. Let's use the point of how 2x drop affects drop rates and doubles it: 1. Number of monsters killed/time used killing monsters- 2x drop wouldn't affect this by giving you a better chance, it doesn't double the number of monsters you kill or cut the time in half. 2. Hitting at a certain time- 2x drop can't help you hit it at the perfect time. So I think it's niether of these. What it could be I don't know.

My way of thinking is. Each channel has it's set amounts of drops ( lets say 150 drops ) which resets after certain time. While an event 2x, the drop doubles from 150 to 300. if u use 4x u got more chance to get a drop from those 300. While you have 2x, you get higher chance to get one of those 150 drops. Cuz there are chs where you get lucky and these where you not no matter if you cc.

My theory is that the drop rate is fixed. Meaning, a channel has to have a certain amount of monsters killed before a drop can happen. After the item is found the rate resets and goes to another. And its kinda true. Lets say you were hunting a mapleshield. You've killed 499 and need 500 kills for 1 to drop. Then some lucky noob comes and kills one and get a shield. Kinda odd? I dont think so.

Jeez that's funny, i've seen some weird things. Like 2 drops from one monster. or 3 drops from one windraider mob, or 2 simultaneous kills giving two people on opposite sides of the wr map give us both earrings. It's freaking weird. It has to be random. Like any programmers would want to encrypt some weird formula? It's random for sure.

It's random behavior, with a known error... the known error is in the human brain, it tends to find patterns where none exist.
