Today was supposed to be a normal day. I was getting paid a small sum of money by my mother. $180, to be exact. She wrote me a check, and I went to cash it. Problem 1 When I got to the bank, I went up to the teller, and he gave me the most shocking news of the summer: my account had been overdrawn by $183.05. At first I wondered "How?" Then after a quick phone call and a printout of my statement, I discovered a dormant charge had become active. Twice. Before the charge was made, I only had $0.35 in my account. But then the charge became active, and I was debited $76.00 that I didn't have. Tack on $70 in overdraft fees and another $35 more as late fees, and my true day began. So what was this charge? Well, back in March, I pre-ordered this LP. As time went on, the release date was pushed back further and further, and I thought my transaction hadn't gone through (it was deleted from my activity list on the website), so I pre-ordered it again. Well, the album finally came out on June 12th, and I was charged for both pre-orders. I had no money. Problem 2 Mom to the rescue. I used that $180 and a little cash to bail myself out, then asked for another $50 from her. I was planning on using some money to buy some EXTREMELY RARE CDs that I had seen yesterday, but couldn't afford. So I went down to the CD store IMMEDIATELY. Thing is, the checks hadn't cleared yet. My card was declined. 45 minutes of running back and forth to the bank later, I went home emptyhanded, expecting to be able to buy them tomorrow. Problem 3 I mentioned the transactions to my mom once more as we drove home. Thing is, at that moment, she realized that the checks she'd written were going to take money from her NEW bank account, which had no money in it, meaning they'd bounce, I'd get no money, and SHE'D be hit with overdraft fees. Worse yet, by the time this took place, it was past 6 PM, meaning the banks were closed. There was nothing we could do. Problem 4 Finally, she went out to get some stuff done, among which was putting $300 into my bank account, which she later told me I can't spend (reason not given). She then proceeded to freak out at me for the emotional and financial stress I'd caused her today. And to think, this all could've been avoided if I hadn't eaten so much fast food in college. God, I hate myself.

We all make mistakes. I've screwed up on a few occasions that cost my dad around 300 bucks, if not more. :s
