Failed to start WAS?

Hi. i decided to come back from MS after almost 1 year. Uhm, i downloaded the newest version, after 1-2minutes, i DC with an erorr saying this "failed to start WAS, or failed to start WASstartup" What does that mean? and how do i fix it. kthx

Try whatever everybody else tries, which is generally uninstalling, restarting, and then reinstalling. Maybe it will work.

Nope. tried it 4times. Doesnt work.

I think there's a fix for it on the MS website. Like something to do with your hackshield folder. Check the site for a D/C fix.

Are you using vista? What was the error code number? I had the exact same problem, and the solution takes like thirty seconds.

the error code is: Failed to start WAS. and failed to start WASstartup..like i mentioned. there are no numbers and yes, every PC comes with vista now.

I'm not sure exactly if you have the same problem, but you can try this: Click Start then go to all programs > accessories > command prompt Right click command prompt and click 'run as administrator'. On the command prompt box type: netsh winsock reset ***Press enter and restart your computer***.
