I got recoil shot recently but the recoil seems kinds weak and was wondering if you go farther at higher levels

you go very far. not as much as fj but still far. recoil shot isnt really used for dmg but for getting yourself out of tight situations like if 2 mobs of himes are coming at you from both sides. its still a pretty strong skill.

It does considerable damage while moving you away. I just hit 6k today O_O

Sometimes you can use it as a finisher. Like, if you were killing off one monster, and it had a little bit of HP left, then you could Recoil to kill it and move onto the next mob at the same time (and earn yourself some style points). On Topic: Yeah, I believe the distance increases every 4 levels.

As BrazenBlitz said Recoil is pretty useful for single target killing in 2nd job and near the beginning of third job.
