Is squids truly that effective? Please enlighten me.

I read all the threads sticked in the bowman section. However, from personal experience I find squids [black] to be horrible experience and a huge waste of money. I went the strafe build with 6 puppet, 5 mortal arrow, 1 AE, 21 strafe [now 24]. My dmg range at lv 82 is 1026~1815, No Zhelm. I get hit by their ink doing 90 dmg. While touch will KO me in 2 hit. Takes average 11 Strafe to kill which is 352 MP maybe more. I m losing money and squids do not offer very great EXP. Due to huge amount of Strafe to kill one. How do my fellow bowman can train effectively at squids? Please discuss, i appreciate all your input.

Thank you all for the great in put. I m lucky enough in Bellocan where WR aren't as populated as some of the older worlds. I think I m going there now. The main issue I m having is the jump quests lol, the 10,000 touch damage isn't very pleasant to hear Bah forget squids. I can only get 9%/hr there. At Ghost pirates I get around [Sigapore not Kru] 12%/hr in Mysterious Path 3. I m not losing money on Unagis, I m losing money on Pure Water due to the high amount of Damage I need to put in to bring one down and the cash drop isn't great.

Dont use pure waters. Use sorceror elixirs. Pure water: Heals 800 mp, Costs 1600 Sorceror Elixir: Heals 1500 mp Costs 1500 One is obviously better than the other...

The pillars are really easy to avoid. The real hazard comes the map before the JQ with elderwraiths, bigfoot, and everything else in the map that's trying to kill you. Also, ghost pirates =/= Mysterious Path 3. Ghost pirates actually are their own monster in Ludi. Plus the MP3 monsters are more sailors than pirates. And you shouldn't be using pure waters under any circumstances. Sorcerer elixers from NCL are a MUCH cheaper option, and even Supreme Pizzas from NLC are better than those horrid Pure Waters.

You can definitely get more than 9%/hr at your level. Hell I get 6%/hr at lv 12x lol (Yeah I've tried, and the exp isnt even that bad) When I trained there, I averaged 18-20%/hr from lv 75-85, which is really good for a strafe first build IMO, faster than sniping newties in my experience. At first, I died a lot and didn't kill that fast because I wasn't used to 2HKO and the map. After you've been there a few levels, you probably wont die much, if at all. In addition you will start gaining money when you learn to avoid attacks and kill faster by getting used to the platforms, how to lure, etc. Personally I LOVE black squids; I found it a very relaxing training spot with low risk of death while also being interesting cause being able to swim and and all the positioning you used to kill as fast as possible =D.

No not the ghost pirates at Ludi, I meant the GHOST SAILORS I should say at Singapore. Too much pirates in Maple lol Well I hate the squids due to the bottom platform, when I cleaned out the top, there's usually about 7 or 8 at the very bottom. Luring with AE and puppet is a pain. 11 strafe to take out one when there's 5 or 8 rushing at me.

LOL I was the only one who went to Grims (maple hubby was a White Knight) during my 8x and then Herb Pirates 86-96... I found it really fun using AR on them and I made decent mesos that way, then squids late 9x to 101. I was at Newties since 102, but nowadays I go Skeles. Interesting how nowadays people are at Typhoons, Nightshadows, or Newties. Squid parties are obsolete. :x

If you think it's a difficulty that if you get 2hko, make a warrior. The rest of your bowman life will include getting 2hkoed.

I had an easy method to get up there. Elders are the only thing that should 1hko you you everything around you is still safe to touch. All you need to do is run into all the other monsters and get to the end of the path. I also see that you are a sniper. Are you using blizzard efficiently? If you don't have any points in it Id highly advise it because then the mob of 7-8 squids becomes a frozen mess to snipe after sending a few blizzards in.
