Karma-ing a Zhelm

I have a level 35 brawler, and an extra zhelm on one of my old characters. When I karma the helm and trade it to my brawler, will I still have to do the pre-quests to wear the zhelm?

The logic came from this. They dont have to drag noobs in there parties and they can take full parties of high levels. After a realy quick pq they can just loot the helms and make the buyers pay for the scissors.
