When you press shift 5 times, a popup will come up, open up the accessibility options from one of the buttons. It'll bring you to a list of the other controls, the first one should be 'stickykeys', uncheck the box and press okay :D there, shift/any of keys, will be disabled from bringing the popup up.

I have my computer running close to 24/7, and I don't have problems with it. If you have decent airflow through your computer, nothing should overheat.

Keep pressing it until the popup appears, open up the options and settings, and either disable it or change the activation shortcut. Edit: Depends on your computer, and the environment your computer is in. Just try to keep vents unblocked and stuff like that, and it'll be fine. If the computer must be on for more than 24 hours or so, turn it off every few days for an hour or two, if you experience any sort of slowdowns or the like.
