Sometimes I'm rendering a video or sometimes I'm downloading something. I try to turn off my computer whenever possible though.

turning your computer on and off constantly, puts a lot of wear on it. if you use it constantly thoughout the day you should just leave it on. but if you only use it for a few hours, turn it off, thats just a waste of electricity.

To download legal stuff during the night at it's max download rate to make things not lag during the day? Shop permits? EDIT: And no... turning your computer on and off constantly is not bad for it. It will wear off the power supply inside your PC, however keeping the computer on for an extended period of time is worse.

I keep mine on because I have a cheap shop permit. However, is it better to leave my old desktop on or a semi new laptop? Thanks!
