So, why is there no channel 20?

I always wanted to know why there is no channel 20 in maplestory... Anyone know?

There was something that Nexon replied with saying that they took off channel 20 to produce more social activity in the servers. I think it was pretty dumb but eh.

They originally said they took them out to "reduce lag" I think they took them out cuz they were too cheap to buy new servers to use for the new worlds

To reduce lag, 1 less channel equals less PQs the server has to function, one less fm to be server sided and less bosses to be produced....So thats why and they weren't being cheap they were being smart with what they had considering the reccession is hurting them.

i use to play when they had ch. 20 buh i heard that they removed it because the channel that hackers usually hacked was in ch 20 so they removed it. Thats just what i heard O_o

Prior to channel 20 being removed. There was a lot of crashing going on with one of the channels. I thought they removed it as a pathetic and simple solution.

Think of it this way. Every channel in every server needs a dedicated computer to hold all the characters location / damage / spawn / whatever information. So when you have 10 servers, cutting down a channel on each one means you dont have to buy the extra 10 computers. Cheaper for nexon. Nexon is cheap.
