iPod Touch Wi-Fi issues

I bought a new iPod Touch 2nd Gen. a couple days ago (completely new, from Wal-mart), and so far I haven't gotten the Internet, App Store, or anything with wi-fi to work on it. All of the other things work, like music, photos, calculator and whatnot, but I can't seem to get the dang Internet to work. When I try it, it has a full three bars in the corner, but then after clicking a site then it says "Loading" for like 45 seconds, then afterwards i get the message "Safari cannot connect to the server because the server is not responding" I've looked at a bajillion different websites that tell you to do everything from reseting your iPod to asking Apple to trading in a new one to praying to God, and after doing half of those things nothing worked. If anyone knows anything that can help, please do so. Thanks in advance for those who know how and replied. Thanks also to the people who posted with no solution, but considerably less thanks to those.

I know this because I have a ipod touch but the wifi connection bar is very inaccurate. Sometimes it will be full and 1 minute later it will have one bar. Is the router you're using far away? You can use the app store built into itunes.

I can be right on top of the router and there will be absolutely no difference.

Have you already tried restoring the iPod and trying again? (And not restoring from the backup, or else there wouldn't be any point of restoring in the first place)

First thing to do is make you're network is picked up, all of your network settings are correct, and that you have entered your wireless network's password. If that does not work, make sure your router is actually broadcasting wirelessly. You can check this by trying to use wifi with a laptop. You could also go to a public place with free wifi and check to see if your iPod picks it up. If it does not, try restoring your iPod through iTunes (click on your iPod in the sidebar when connected and there will be a big restore button in the middle). As a last resort, you could use this website link to update your iPod firmware to the latest (3.0) to see what happens (use at your own risk). If you are then 100% sure that you can not fix it, it's time to take it back to the store and get a new one.
