Why the trade hack does not exist

| Many people have said that they have been trade hacked, saying it can happen, but I am here to disprove that statement. There is no such thing as a trade hack. Trade hack was just "invented" for a cover up after being scammed. How do I know? The first thread on Basil about being trade hacked was largely accepted by many, then others followed suit. It was a cover up for being scammed. Why doesn't trade hack exist? Everything you do in maple, there is something called a packet. A packet is simply data being collected and being sent from here to there. When you trade someone you send packets to the server. This is where trade hack was believed to exist by "Packet Editing" That's where most people who don't know much about packets or files at all believe it almost instantly. However if you were to trade a person and try to get their info, it would be impossible. Why? You can't get the info from trading someone because you would need server files that come from Nexon. Nexon only controls those files and they decide what to do with them. No one can access those files except Nexon, making trade hack impossible unless you had an inside contact that deals with those packets. "You're wrong thisaintcool! A genius hacker could figure it out!" Wrong again, it's highly unlikely that a hacker could get into the Nexon database, that would break many laws, and also, Nexon uses their own Encryption for their files, so C++ will work but you will get bits and pieces of the information. That's why things like illegal servers have to rewrite the server files in order to make their server work. |

I also used that example because C++ you can write your own server packet, but I'm trying to say in order to trade hack you need to know Nexon's Server source."" That's not right... "Wrong again, it's highly unlikely that a hacker could get into the Nexon database, that would break many laws, and also, Nexon uses their own Encryption for their files, so C++ will work but you will get bits and pieces of the information. " That's also incorrect. "You can't get the info from trading someone because you would need server files that come from Nexon." Incorrect. Sorry, sir. But you have just won the ignorance award." The 1st & 3rd quote are incorrect, true, but what about the 2nd one? I'm PRETTY SURE hacking into Nexon's database can get you in big trouble. |

| Packets look like this. 48 65 6c 6c 6f 20 42 61 73 69 6c 6d 61 72 6b 65 74 21 The above says "Hello Basilmarket!" in Hex. They have nothing to do with C++. Packet editing and packet logging is what makes things like damage hacks possible. You send packets to the server that tell it you're doing a ton of damage - though this isn't actually possible anymore because Nexon's server sanity checks it - it also calculates damage and compares it to the number you give it to make sure it's real. You can't trade hack is because 1. the other person's computer is not communicating directly with yours when you open a trade window. They're sending packets to the server and the server is sending packets to you, but you have no way of knowing what they're sending. 2. your login info isn't being sent anyway. |

 | This thread made me laugh really hard. 1) C++ is a programming language. 2) Packets aren't "hex". Hex is a form of data that we are able to view. Packets can be either hex, binary, or even ASCII characters. It all depends on how you want to format it. 3) Nexon's database isn't encrypted. 4) Illegal servers don't "rewrite" the code... They have to make the whole server from scratch. |
