I worship satan so what?

So I'm at school one day and a bunch of people I am "kinda" friends with are talking about their weekend. Most of them say they are hanging out and on Sunday everyone is like 'I got church". They ask each other if they're christian or catholic and what not. My friend Jamey (guy) asks me what my belief is. I say satanism. There's a long pause then they all burst out laughing. I retort by saying I was serious and then there is the awkward silence. Is satanism really that hilarious because it isn't the most "discussed" religious belief?

I'm pretty sure satanists don't worship satan. I saw a few things on the history channel about it that's how I know

In the U.S. people commonly practice Christianity, so you would be a minority, making you subject to being the joke of the group.
