I know for a fact that night lords do NOT attack 540 times a minute. That would be 9 triple throws per second. If you're talking about how many stars hit per second, then corsairs hit much more than 100. The animation for the ship may look like it takes a while, but the actual action is instantaneous. There is little or no delay to start attacking once you board/get off. Corsair's attacks do much more damage than a night lords, so it doesn't matter how much more the NL attacks if they can't match the damage. A corsair's damage without SE can pretty much match a NLs with SE. So if they do get SE, of course their damage is going to be better.

A good Corsair can avoid it from breaking during some bosses too. And that second part is not true. Note that NL's are better at some bosses, Corsairs are better at some bosses. DPM is just if the two use their attacking skills and attack on one target for a minute nonstop.
