SwannxOkay, well it's not really 'new', but I discovered that training in a two-person party on Typhons is MUCH faster than training solo by myself. The party consists of you (the (x)bowman) and a thief (hermit or CB). The thief goes around and lures all the Typhons (only works with thieves because they have DS, tried gunslinger and others but they get knocked off every few minutes) and you just stand in the middle spamming AR/AE. It has been very good EXP for both me and my lurer. Preferred level of your thief lurer is 70-100, and it is also preferred that you are higher leveled than him/her so that the killing rate vs. the lure rate is even. You should constantly have about 6 typhons in your face (more every time the thief brings over his next batch) and... yeah! Works much like a priest and DK at himes. Edit// This doesn't work with a priest for some reason. I tried. They can't seem to grab a mob. I think it's because their AoE range is less than AR's.

The thief probably gets some low exp...

Swannxmashavsapir said: "The thief probably gets some low exp..." Not really. If they are getting slow EXP it is either because A) their lure rate is slow B) your killing rate is slow in either case, you should attempt to find a thief at a different level to match yours. A 10-20 level difference is best I think, between the two, with the thief being lower.

or just clear mob > enter cs > spawn at top > regroup > fall to middle > repeat oh wait, that's normal training

Lol. No, you're doing all the killing, basically most of the damage since the thief is doing nothing but mobbing. You're practically just using them for your own bidding. You can stubbornly say it isn't, but the bigger picture is, it is. Other than that, I'd say this would ONLY go well if you were to party a 7x-8x thief that would love to have some quick EXP.

When all thieves have are WS's, Newties, and WRs pretty much for levels 70-90, and maybe some random Ludi/CW maps, Typhons start looking pretty good, especially for hermits. They take out about 800-1K EXP for each Typhon I kill out of 3200. The fact that they're luring, much like the priests at himes, and not mainly attacking doesn't mean that the experience is bad. Priests level insanely fast at himes. The EXP gained at Typhons for a 7x thief is insane too. When they're 8x-9x, they got pretty much no maps that give great EXP, just decent, so they still train with me. So you're saying that the DK in the himes situation is just using the priest for their own bidding and the priest is getting almost nothing out of it.

Or the Thief could lure the Typhons and kill them all themself, get the exp for themself, get the drops for themself, at pretty much the same rate.

Anyway- priests can't train alone so they don't actually have a choice. I tried doing this thing with a lvl 12x pirate and my exp/hour got slightly lower.

I prefer soloing. I start at the spawn spot, do my usual lure, spam AE in the middle. Then after that mob is dead, I get the monsters below and around the middle, and jump down to the lower ascent portal and gather those with a couple AE's and i put puppet at the far left edge and own the mob. After the mob is dead, I jump down to the invisible floor and fall into the hole and get spawned on top again. It's a LOT faster than it sounds :P. If i remade my dit I'd just Hime 70-12x

i think high level cbs who train there mostly kill with meso explosion after laying up a bed of coins and bags of mesos. After a few hits of BoT, i just blow the flying sheeps away o.o i find that cbs and ranger hit around the same mobbing (maybe a little higher when u crit), but we can blow things up. So cbs kill quicker, lure better and thus solo better. i trained at typhons from 80-104, early to late 8x, i had a priest with me and the exp was slightly better but after that solo all the way. i was gonna say i ll go with you but then realized that you were in Khaini TT~TT

Usually, between that level range, it's both. And to the guy who said he trained there with a 12x pirate... if you're level 1xx and he's 4th job, I don't know why you would expect good EXP from typhons together.

wouldn't the sniper/ranger be better in luring overall? i mean, besides AE/AR we got bliz/inferno, which are pretty good long-range lurers, something a CB doesn't have.
aisu Jun 13 2009 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
@ starbomba, its all about mobility my friend, BoT is extremely fast and surprisingly has a far reach since the patch. With haste + dark sight + assaulter, we move from platform to platform with ease, hitting typhons in the air while jumping with BoT without slowing down and then go into darksight to lure in another part of the map while avoiding getting hit CBs flaunt their sexiness in that map ^^ Althought AE/AR and bliz/inferno r great long range lurers, usually u have to be standing still to use those skills effectively. Standing still on a little platform in a map full of flying sheep that constantly knocks into you and send you flying back to JQ isnt fun. Even if u use the pet food thing after falling and come back to the map, you still lose the mob that you lured. EDIT: CBs can spam pet food at the very bottom platform after falling and assaulter a sheep that was lured and avoid JQ and not lose your mob.
