im just wondering what is the best type of weapon to use when i make my fighter. could u also tell me the difference between swords and axes

cost, cost of scrolls, availability, stability, speed... a lot of factors are different for each weapon...

Theres this thing called a sticky. And, there are these people, who take their knowledge and are kind enough to put it in these threads, which MrB then stickies. In fact. There is this one, that pretty much answers-....actually, there are TWO, count em TWO! stickies that have the answers to your questions.

The more of these threads I see, the more I just want to leave. The more intelligent questions I see, the less I want to leave (doesn't mean the more I want to stay). I dunno these days. *sigh*

2h sword and sword have stable dmg then axes but cost more

axes are alot less common, there for scrolls and wepons are cheaper but it will be harder to find good weapons(scrolled), but if you are funded i would become either a 1h or 2h swordsman, flip a coin if it comes down to it.
