A Shadower's purpose

What is a shadower's purpose? What makes this class so unique? This question has confuzzled my mind for quit a while, and I want my answer. See, I'm currently lvl 113, and me being a CB for 1 1/2 year already, have not found my uniqueness. I see my dexless sin classmate, and see his awesome damage. Then I ask myself: "Who wants a shadower in boss runs? I mean, ANYTHING but a shadower. Your existence in a boss run isn't much of a concern to boss hunting groups." Then what IS my purpose? Training will be slower than most other classes in the future 4th job. Other than my skills being flashy, the skill itself in general isn't valued too much. It's something I need to realize, before my mind leads me toward the wrong way: Quitting.

I just need an answer, something that will snap me. A CB is VERY fun, but I'd hate to think that I'm not valued in boss hunts or training parties.

It's not all about damage, people may take shadowers because of their smokeshell(smokescreen, whatever they're called) Please refer to the thread "Get Real, CBs." It is quite an inspirational thread for confuzzled CBs.

Shadowers are meant to be a 'fun' class, not a bossing class nor a training class. Your damage isn't meant to be high, but your training is meant to be 'fun'. That's why you have tons of skills. Also, you have the highest avoid in the game, with all your luck, fake giving you an additional 40% chance to avoid, bstep making you untouchable throughout the animation, and having the skill smokescreen which makes you completely untouchable. Also, you were a force to be reckoned with back when there wasn't a 4th job nor onyx apples, with your meso explosion, you were the top hitter in any bossing group. If you wanted damage, a shadower was the worst possible class to make as they have the worst 1v1 damage aside from mages and beginners, and their mob attacks, while average, are still quite mediocre compared to the mob attacks of most other classes.

Smokescreen. And you're thinking too small scale. In most cases the only real requisite to a boss run is level.

how many other classes get a move that could hit 600-800k in one hit?

If you don't like the class, don't play it. It's really that simple. Comparing Shads to NLs and such is stupid anyway. Compare shads to other melee classes if any comparisons are to be made at all.

It is quite an inspirational thread for confuzzled CBs." That thread has the chief bandit hitting 18k with BoT at level 100. At that level, most other classes could hit over 18k with their 1 target attack, and definitely more with a mob attack. Also, only being able to rely on a mob attack really limits where you can train. |
