EDIT: My thread was moved to Chat. I guess it wasn't really about MS. Sorry 'bout that Mods. First off, I just want to mention that this is mostly about Maplestory? vs. Parents, and that's why I put it in the General Section. If any Mod reads it and decides it would be more suitable in the Chat Section, feel free to move it. Now lets begin. First, let me give you a little background: 1. My Dad hates Maplestory and is almost never fair in his punishments, while my mom is pretty much okay with MS and is always fair. 2. I get good grades in school and do activities such as taking piano lessons, after-school activies, etc. 3. I am always nice to my parents and do SO many favors for them. My mom even calls me to get a bottle of water for her when I'm upstairs, and she's right next to the fridge. 4. I give my parents double, or triple the amount of money/presents they give me for birthday/holidays. 5. I go to church as often as I can (at least twice a week) and try as hard as possible to not curse/talk back to anyone, especially to my family. 6. I'm going to work this summer and help my dad save up for my car, even though he just bought a brand new expensive car for my brother, without him having to save up at all. I don't mind, I just think my dad should be slightly appreciative. Apparently though, I'm still a horrible child who gets yelled at and punished almost every day for no reason. I started playing Maplestory again a few months ago, and have gotten it taken away almost 10 times already, even though my grades haven't dropped and my attitude has stayed positive. I don't play too much, just when I know I wouldn't be doing something more productive than playing at that moment in time. Although, my parents (dad mostly) think otherwise. My dad hates all video-games, and is never fair to me when dealing with them. I was playing MS about an hour ago, since I barely played this five day weekend, when my dad asks me what I ate today. I told him that I just had (5 minutes ago) ate a BIG bowl of soup that HE handed out to me, pizza, ice-cream, other junk food, etc. I was completely full from the chicken soup. He then tells my mom, no exaggeration, that I must be starving and do not want to eat because I'm so addicted to Maplestory, even though I had only been playing for about an hour or two at that point. I tried to bite my tongue, but I was honestly sick of it. I got up out of my chair and asked him to repeat what he said. He said that I was so addicted to the game I wouldn't even get out of the chair to eat. I told him that I had JUST eaten and that he always tries to use games an excuse to everything that I do wrong, which isn't fair. He then tells me to stop yelling (which I can honestly admit I was). After that point I stop yelling and calm my self down, but he goes on to yell at me about how I'm addicted to all of my games and that I don't do anything productive. r u asian by any chance? i am and im in the same scenario except im 13 also my mom is ALOT scarier than my dad but i say turn ur comp around facing wall so screen cant be seen by ur dad. if he comes quickly minimize maplstory and turn screen to some scientific article; after he sees once prepare another article for second time =D

My Goodness my dad's the same. I play 40 mins and he says: Son, your addicted to that video game. IM NOT! Same situation dude. Just talk to your dad, and try to tell him how you feel. Make a note of what he critizes you about and talk to him about it. BTW arent you the guy from the thread with xSupah?

Also, I'm (Middle-Eastern?). I was born in America, while both my parents were born in Cairo. They grew up as very strong Christians and have very high morals and standards. Making it even harder for me F3. Also, my dad barely ever played video games in his life, to the person who said he may have previously been addicted.

First off, I'm just putting it out there, most of the stuff in this thread is a little bit exaggerated, am I right? Second off, as much as you may hate them, they are your parents, and you can't change that. Just try to get along, and wait till college when you're on your own.
