2004 was when MapleStory Betas were active and a lot of players were in other versions of ms until they got their own version. It is now 2009. 2009 - 2004 = 5 years. Tecnically people could've been playing MapleStory for 5 years. Edit: Me, the TS was a bag of fail using his own memory as his proof. Memory was wrong and I deserved to hear about it from the basil community. Thanks for all the info and sorry for the trouble this may have caused. Nothing significant happened in 2004 that involved GMS.

Well counting backwards....... If 4th anniversary is 2009 3rd anniversary is 2008 2nd anniversary is 2007 1st anniversary is 2006 By your reasoning, people don't count the first year they were born then it started in 2005.
