| Redux here. Today, I would like to inform you about Satanism. Introduction Now, I've heard a lot of really absurd things about Satanism. I hear of us violently decapitating and sacrificing people, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. When I hear these stories, I just can't help but laugh to myself. It just doesn't happen. But it seems more Basilers than I thought still believe these silly stories, so I'd like to clear the air about Satanism. Before we Begin I don't expect everyone to approve of Satanism, even after reading this. So if you have something racy to say about me, or my thread, please don't use the thread. If you could, please use the PM system or keep the discussion low-key, so you don't start a war. If you do have some objection to my thread, I only ask that you read the first section, under the header "The meaning of Satanism." Also, if you have any submissions for the Frequently Asked Questions section, please ask them here. Thank you. Let's begin, shall we? Right?" The meaning of Satanism First off, Satanists do not worship Satan. Nor do we believe he exists. It's a logical assumption to make, after hearing the name. In reality, though, Satanists do nothing of the sort. To put it simply, Satanism is just a realistic view of society, and their view of religion. Today, I see a lot of people who are only religious when it benefits them. For example, a class mate of mine uses Christianity to tell people how they should live their lives. Later, however, when I asked him what he believed in, he says he was not a Christian because that would mean he couldn't steal, fight and do drugs, all of which he loves very much. Satanists recognize that a lot of people, dare I say the majority of religious people are simply in it for themselves. I've met a lot of people looking for a relationship with their deity of choice, and I think that's great. But I've met even more people lying through their teeth thinking they're going to be rewarded for it. If that's the case, one must wonder: why worship a god at all if you're just in it for yourself? Satanists ask the same question. Anton LaVey explains: Anton LaVey, founder of Satanism said: "My brand of Satanism is the ultimate conscious alternative to herd mentality and institutionalized thought. It is a studied and contrived set of principles and exercises designed to liberate individuals from a contagion of mindlessness that destroys innovation. I have termed my thought "Satanism" because it is most stimulating under that name. Self-discipline and motivation are effected more easily u |
