Why sniping newts and not Nightshadows? xD I don't think it really matters, just do whichever one fits your playing style. However, I'd say not sniping newts because if there's a nest golem on the center platform you could be screwed if you have less than 2900 hp, so a slight problem there make me lean towards the nightshadow option.

Nightshadows jump no matter what platform you on. x.x Quite annoying. Newite sniping on 2x should so the trick

You get more exp at nightshadows because you can mob well with avenger. With max alchemist you even make money there.
