Which do you prefer; please include a reason. Personally: Java. Though it does take a little more time than C++, it's a much more desirable language on the market today.

C++, C and C# is the choice of the gameprogrammer. Java and flash is more of a hobby language.. I mean, logically, any low lv language is more like a script rather then a language.. Java only copies the C languages. But if you're a really good programmer, you can learn any language very fast since a real programmer knows how programs thinks rather then just learning functions.. My favorite language is C++ tho. Stating the reason would probably just make you all confused. oh, and both Java and flash are very slow languages.

C++ is like the base of comp/language. You can't disregard it or say x is better than C++.

The only real language I know well is PHP, so I'd have to go with that. Although I also have experience with VB6, ACTool script, JavaScript and Java.

Tell me why I should learn C++ and not Java, assuming I want to be a game programmer/designer/etc
